‘Pakistan restored balance of power in region by successfully establishing credible minimum nuclear deterrence’
Rawalpindi: Pakistan restored balance of power in the region by successfully establishing credible minimum nuclear deterrence on this day in 1998, said military’s media wing as the country is marking the 23rd anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer.
Taking to twitter, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) shared that the AFs [armed forces] and the nation pays tribute to all those involved in making this dream come true.
“23 years ago on this day, Pakistan restored balance of power in the region by successfully establishing credible minimum nuclear deterrence. AFs and the nation pays tribute to all those involved in making this dream come true. #YoumeTakbeer,” ISPR shared.
Pakistan is marking the 23rd anniversary of successfully conducting nuclear tests today.
On this day in 1998, Pakistan carried out five successful nuclear tests in Chaghi, Balochistan followed by another one on May 30th in Kharan. The tests were conducted in response to Indian nuclear tests.
Every year, Youm-e-Takbeer is celebrated to commemorate the historic day when Pakistan became a nuclear country, in self-defence, in response to the hostile posturing by its neighbor India.
Following the successful tests, Pakistan became the seventh nation in the world to possess nuclear weapons and the first Islamic country to do so
