Court reserved verdict on contempt of court petition against NA-128 RO

Lahore: After hearing the arguments on the contempt of court petition against the Returning Officer (RO) of National Assembly Constituency NA-128, the decision was reserved in the Lahore High Court (LHC).

According to the details, Justice Ali Baqir Najafi of LHC heard the contempt of court petition of independent candidate Salman Akram Raja, in which not following the court orders was highlighted.

Sameer Khosa Advocate appeared on behalf of the petitioner and argued that despite the assurance given to the court, the Returning Officer did not notify on the occasion of preparation of Form-48, therefore he the Returning Officer is guilty of contempt of court.

The court remarked that the matter is being looked into by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), in such a case it does not constitute contempt of court. If the court starts the proceedings today, what will be the legal status of the ECP. Against the RO's attitude, we had sent the matter to the Election Commission.
