PM inaugurates nationwide tree plantation drive
Prime Minister stated that Pakistan is the fifth most climate prone country in the world, due to which billions of dollars have been lost to the economy and society of Pakistan.
Islamabad: Prime Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif Friday inaugurated a nationwide tree planting campaign.
Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the nationwide spring planting campaign in the country by planting saplings at the Prime Minister's House.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the target of their previous government was to plant 240 million trees which will be doubled this year.
Prime Minister stated that Pakistan is the fifth most climate prone country in the world, due to climate change billions of dollars have been lost to the economy and society of Pakistan.
Shahbaz Sharif added that 10,000 lives have been lost due to climate change, efforts should be made to spread this plantation campaign throughout Pakistan, the forest area in Pakistan is only 5%.
The prime minister further said that Pakistan is facing climate change. Everyone should actively participate in Prime Minister’s plantation campaign so that Pakistan is safe from climate change.
