Case will only resolve if Farhad appears in court: IHC

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Friday rejected the request of the Additional Attorney General to deal with the petition filed for the recovery of poet and journalist Ahmed Farhad.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the IHC heard the petition filed by Ahmed Farhad's wife Urooj Zainab for the recovery of her husband, in which the petitioner's lawyers Iman Mazari, Hadi Ali Advocate and the government's Additional Attorney General Munawar Iqbal appeared in court.

Additional Attorney General Munawar told the court that Farhad is on physical remand till June 2, he was met with the family so that the petition of habeas corpus should be disposed of.

On this, Mazari said: “We did not only ask for return, we also asked that action be taken against those responsible for enforced disappearance”.
