LHC reserves decision on petition admissibility against NAB amendment

Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Thursday reserved its decision regarding the petition's admissibility against the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendment.

Justice Shujaat Ali Khan heard the petition of citizen Muneer Ahmed against the amendment of the NAB law through the Presidential Ordinance.

The petitioner's lawyer said that the court should issue an injunction against the presidential ordinance.

Later, the LHC reserved its decision regarding the admissibility of the petition against the NAB amendment.

Notably, on June 3, the move to physical remand for 40 days in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Amendment Ordinance was challenged in the Lahore High Court.

The petitioner had taken the position that the NAB Amendment Ordinance was promulgated only for a political party and should have been enacted by Parliament.

It was further said in the petition that the ordinance was passed in the absence of President Asif Ali Zardari, it was requested in the petition that the NAB ordinance is illegal and the court should declare it as illegal.
