Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) leader and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday said that the decision to ban PTI had not been finalized so far. Speaking to the media in Lahore, he mentioned that the announcement made by the Information Minister would be discussed with political parties and coalition partners.
Dar emphasized that any decision would be made according to the constitution and law, not political motives.
He highlighted that PTI was a foreign-funded party. “There are evidences which show PTI received funds from Jews and Christians and before banning the PTI, constitutional and legal aspects will be considered,” he said and continued that the country's security and stability should be the priority, and anyone acting against national security should be punished according to the law.
Dar added that PML-N and PDM were not eager to take over the government but did so to prevent the country from defaulting. “They are working tirelessly to strengthen the economy.”
The federal government on Monday announced to ban PTI and to lodge cases against former President Arif Alvi, PTI founder Imran Khan and former Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri under Article 6. In a press conference, Information Minister Atta Tarar stated that on May 9, attacks were made on national defense.
“PTI founder's family was involved in these events, with his three sisters present outside the Corps Commander House,” Tarar alleged, saying that the nation was told that a revolution was imminent and to reach their locations immediately.
Tarar accused the PTI founder of promoting violence and damaging defense institutions. He asserted that Pakistan and PTI cannot progress together, claiming PTI sheltered terrorists and attacked GHQ and the Corps Commander House, undermining the National Action Plan.
