Lahore: The users across Pakistan on Sunday reported issues and problems accessing WhatsApp, the popular messaging service owned by Meta.

Many individuals experienced difficulties sending and downloading files through mobile data while those using Wi-Fi connections encountered no such problems.  The users who are using Whatsapp through wifi, however, received and sent messages and large files without disruption.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and cellular mobile operators (CMOs) had yet to issue any official statements addressing the issue.

The experts speculated that the inaccessibility might be related to the installation of a firewall designed to prevent the upload of malicious and fake content targeting the government, state, and institutions. This theory, however, remains unconfirmed by any official sources.

The lack of communication from relevant authorities left users frustrated and seeking answers about when the issue would be resolved.
