PTI announces nationwide protests on August 5
In a press conference, PTI leaders said new elections are the only solution of crisis
Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday announced a series of protests across the country on August 5.
During a press conference in Islamabad, PTI leaders said that Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, and Maryam Nawaz are trying to create a confrontation between PTI and the military, which would be detrimental to the country.
Calling the new elections as the only solution to the current issues, they urged government to act wisely.
Former speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser said that 41 PTI MNAs are being specifically targeted. He stated that these actions began following the Supreme Court's decision and called on the Supreme Court to take suo motu notice of the actions against the MNAs. He condemned the pressure being placed on the MNAs, calling it contempt of the Supreme Court's decision.
“PTI would hold rallies and demonstrations nationwide on two key issues on August 5,” announced the Qaiser, saying that the two issues will be the illegal arrest of PTI's founder and the rising inflation.
He also expressed support for Jamaat-e-Islami's protests.
Former speaker condemned the crackdown on PTI members and social media workers, criticizing Shehbaz Sharif and his niece's actions. He called for an end to unjust cases and urged all political parties to unite against the current government.
Sheikh Waqas Akram questioned whether PTI does not have the right to protest and warned officials that the current government will not last forever. He demanded an immediate halt to actions against PTI MNAs, warning that failure to do so would lead to chaos. He criticized the current government for destroying the economy.
He added that PTI held protests in every district on Friday, during which hundreds of workers were arrested. He emphasized that PTI workers cannot be intimidated by FIRs under Section 144.
