Kite-flying, making, delivery declared non-bailable offenses
Punjab Cabinet approved the important amendments in the Prohibition of Kite Flying Act 2007
Lahore: The kite-flying, kite-manufacturing, and their transportation have been declared non-bailable offenses in Punjab.
According to the spokesman of the Punjab Interior Department, the manufacture, use, and transportation of kites, metal strings, wire, and stringed strings have been declared a crime.
The spokesperson said that the Punjab Cabinet approved the important amendments in the Prohibition of Kite Flying Act 2007. The kite flyer will be imprisoned for three to five years or a fine of Rs2 million or both, while the kite flyer will be imprisoned for another year for not paying the fine.
It was also stated by the spokesperson that the kite manufacturer and transporter will be imprisoned for five to seven years or a fine of Rs5 million or both will be imposed. They will be imprisoned for another two years for non-payment of fine, while kite-flying kid will be warned for the first time and he will face a fine of Rs50,000 for being caught for the second time.
According to the spokesman, a kite-flying child will be fined Rs100,000 for the third violation. If he fails to pay the fine, it will be collected from his parents or guardian. For the fourth violation, the child will be punished under the Juvenile Justice System Act 2018, and have to go to jail.
The spokesman further said that measures to prevent blood sport are necessary for the protection of human lives. Increasing punishments and fines several times will discourage blood sports.
