Husband, his brothers arrested for allegedly throwing acid on wife
Victim woman has been provided medical treatment while the accused are being interrogated
Rawalpindi: Waris Khan police arrested husband Shakeel and two named brothers-in-law Adeel and Khalil on the charge of throwing acid on a woman.
Taking notice of the incident, Chief Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani ordered immediate legal action and arrest of the accused. The case was registered in Waris Khan police station on the complaint of the victim.
The victim woman has been provided medical treatment while the accused are being interrogated. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Saba Sattar is directly supervising the investigation.
In the registered case, Masmata Ezra Bibi said that she was married to Muhammad Shakeel 14 years ago and had two daughters while her husband continued to torture her. After which, she filed a claim for divorce, and separation took place on August 9, to which the husband and in-laws threatened that if she will not live with them, they would not let her live anywhere.
The victim stated that she was coming home in a rickshaw with her friend when suddenly her brothers-in-law Adeel and Khalil who were riding a motorcycle on Zafar-ul-Haq Road stopped the road and put the motorcycle next to the rickshaw and threw acid on her face, right hand and arm from a bottle which burnt her and made her unconscious. The rickshaw driver took her to the doctor on his own and when she regained consciousness, the family took her to the hospital. The brothers-in-law had threatened her earlier and now injured her by throwing acid.
CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani directed that the investigation will be done on merit while investigating according to the facts. The incident like throwing acid on women is intolerable and the accused involved in crimes against women and children cannot escape from the law.
