World Tourism Day celebrated today
This year, World Tourism Day is being celebrated under the title of ‘Tourism and Peace’
Islamabad: World Tourism Day is being celebrated on Friday across the world including Pakistan.
World Tourism Day has been celebrated since 1970 according to the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on the recommendations of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization.
Pakistan is the center of attraction for tourists from all over the world due to its rich in historical and religious tourist places, and natural landscapes.
For the promotion of tourism, the government of Pakistan has taken a big step under the open visa policy, free visa facility is available to tourists from 126 countries within 48 hours. Pakistan has seen a 30 to 40 percent increase in domestic tourism this year, while foreign tourists are contributing 1.6 million US dollars to the country's economy.
This year, World Tourism Day is being celebrated under the title of ‘Tourism and Peace’. Accordingly, the International Tourism Investment Expo was also organized in Islamabad in which companies and individuals related to tourism from all over the country participated and expressed determination to promote tourism and culture in Pakistan.
Various embassies including Malaysia, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan also participated in the expo and made their tourism known.
