Pakistani female journalists denied legal rights on maternity leave: IFJ
IFJ launched a campaign titled ‘Building Stronger Workplaces in Pakistan’ which focuses on women in media
Islamabad: The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) said that 25 percent of women journalists in Pakistan do not know their legal rights regarding maternity leave.
According to the IFJ, 50 percent of female journalists are unclear about the pay structure in their media organisations, which is why the pay gap between men and women persists.
The International Federation of Journalists is celebrating the International Day of 'Decent Work' 2024 to highlight the various issues faced by women in Pakistani media.
The IFJ has launched a campaign titled ‘Building Stronger Workplaces in Pakistan’ which focuses on women in media.
The campaign calls on governments and media organisations to provide journalists with a safe, fair and respectful working environment.
It is pertinent to note that IFJ is the largest organisation of journalists in the world, representing more than 600,000 members in more than 140 countries.
This organisation works to promote freedom of the press, defend the rights of journalists and improve the working conditions and environment in the media industry.
