SC withdraws former judgments in Mubarak Sani case
Judgments removed after objections raised by religious scholars
Islamabad: Following objections raised by religious scholars, the Supreme Court withdrew its previous judgments in the Mubarak Sani case on Thursday.
According to the court’s latest ruling, an application was submitted by the federal government and the Punjab government on July 24.
The applications sought corrections in the earlier judgments. Notices were subsequently issued to 19 prominent scholars, who raised concerns about specific paragraphs - 7, 42, and 49 - in the judgments issued on February 6 and July 24.
According to the latest order, after reviewing the scholars’ objections and hearing the arguments, the court decided to remove the paragraphs. As a result, the earlier judgments were retracted.
The finl order also said that the trial court is now directed to proceed with the bail case independently.
