Smog intensity reduces in Punjab
Lahore still ranks second among cities around the world in air pollution
Lahore: The intensity of smog has decreased in Punjab, while the air in Lahore and Multan remains polluted.
The provincial capital Lahore still ranks second among cities around the world in air pollution. Lahore's Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 252, while the pollution rate in Multan was 286.
As the smog situation improved, educational institutions in all divisions except Lahore and Multan opened. The Environmental Protection Department has directed all students and teachers to wear masks, while the ban on outdoor sports and other extracurricular activities remains in place.
In addition, restrictions have also been relaxed as the intensity of smog has decreased. All hotels and restaurants have been allowed to remain open until 10:00pm and dine-in and takeaway facilities will be available. There will be no restrictions on home delivery services.
