PM congratulates Shibli Faraz, his team for developing electronic voting machine

In a Tweet, PM said, “Inspecting Pakistani-made electronic voting machines by our Science & Technology Ministry. Looks like finally we will have elections in Pakistan where all contestants will accept the results,”

Earlier, on Saturday, Imran Khan Saturday tested the working of the newly developed electronic voting machine by casting a mock vote.

The premier was briefed about salient features and use of the machine before he cast his mock vote.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz gave a detailed briefing to the premier, telling him that the software of the machine had been developed in accordance with top quality standards.  Faraz further said "the machine doesn't need internet".

PM Imran congratulated the team on a successful first test run.

"No tampering can be done with the machine since it does not involve the use of the internet," the minister told the premier.

The Ministry of Science and Technology has also decided to have members of the parliament and the four provincial assemblies inspect the voting machine.

Faraz had announced the development of the electronic voting machine on Tuesday last at a press conference in Islamabad, where he said that the machine is ready to use.
