Next general election can be held in transparent manner with use of technology: PM
Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed resolve to make the next general elections free and transparent with the use of data and technology.
According to details, PM inaugurated a mobile van of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) at the NADRA headquarters in Islamabad today (Friday).
Speaking on occasion, the Prime Minister said that the data prepared by NADRA will be synced with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
“Use of technology will prevent any rigging and casting of fake votes and the results of next elections will be acceptable to everyone,” he said.
PM Khan further said that there are about three million registered Afghan refugees in Pakistan,.
“There are some people who are not registered yet so following the registration, they will be able to keep money in banks,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Ministry of Science and Technology has completed all the tests related to Electronic Voting Machine, while the EVM has features as per the instructions of the Election Commission.
As per an estimate, around 400,000 electronic voting machines will be required for the general elections. The EVM battery can last up to 2 days. Electronic voting machine (EVM) can operate at minus 10 to 55 degrees Celsius. There will be an electronic voting record as well as a ballot paper
