Punjab to prohibit public transport for unvaccinated citizens
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar Tuesday stated that unvaccinated people will not be permitted to avail any public transport across Pakistan from October 15.
While addressing to media in Islamabad media, the federal minister stated that after the said deadline school teachers along other staff will no longer be able to perform their respective duties.
“School employees are required to receive their COVID-19 jabs,” he added.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health, Dr. Faisal Sultan was also in attendance.
Referring to air travel, National Command and Operation Center’s (NCOC) Chief revealed that after September 30, vaccination will be mandatory.
“The government of Pakistan is carrying out all precautionary measures to contain the spread of deadly virus, saying that vaccination is an effective way,” he said.
He further added that a single dose vaccination will be mandatory for travelling on highways after September 15, after October 15 no unvaccinated citizen will be given access to motorway.
In addition, people who are not vaccinated will be prohibited to enter shopping malls after August 31.
On the other hand, people who have received their first doses of anti COVID vaccine can visit malls until September 29.
Hotels and restaurants will be accessible to people who have taken their first dose until August 31, On September 30 and onwards only completely vaccinated citizens will be allowed to enter.
The Minister said thousands of vaccination centers have been established across the country with mobile vans also operating. He said the people should themselves vaccinated for their own safety and those of others.
Dr Faisal Sultan said that vaccination for those falling in the age brackets of fifteen to sixteen will also be opened soon.
He said a special vaccine will be administered to the immunocompromised people from the September 1.
