Pakistan reports massive decline in active COVID-19 cases
Islamabad: It appears that Pakistan may finally be curbing the pandemic’s impact as COVID-related hospitalizations and deaths are decreasing dramatically.
Amid a steady decline in Covid-19 infections, Pakistan's coronavirus positivity ratio further fell to 1.65% with 572 new cases.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 572 cases of coronavirus were reported while 6 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 28,392.
Pakistan is presently experiencing the fourth wave of coronavirus which is said to be deadlier and more contagious than the previous three COVID waves.
The total number of cases has reached 1,269,806.
As many as 1,217,218 patients have recovered from the disease with 1,028 critical cases.
Punjab
The number of patients swelled to 439,307 in the province with 12,896 causalities.
Sindh
The number of infections has surged to 468,164 in the province, while the death toll has reached 7,551.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The confirmed cases have surged to 177,553 in the province with 5,720 casualties.
Balochistan
There are 33,204 confirmed cases while 355 patients have died from the infection so far.
AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
There are 34,443 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 740. On the other hand, there are 10,386 cases in GB with 186 coronavirus deaths.
Islamabad
There are 106,749 cases in the capital city while 938 people have lost their lives.
