Islamabad: The federal administration has made all preparations to thwart the long march of the banned organization Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) towards Islamabad, saying they will not let the protest happen under any circumstances.

Authorities have sealed several areas and main roads in Islamabad and Rawalpindi in an attempt to stop protesters.

The proscribed TLP central committee on Wednesday accused Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid of lying that matters between it and the government had been settled.

Earlier, Rashid announced that the government could not meet the TLP’s demand for expulsion of the French ambassador, following which the banned outfit said its activists would now march onto Islamabad.

On Monday, the interior minister assured to fulfil the commitments, saying the matter would be discussed during a federal cabinet meeting.

Islamabad & Rawalpindi sealed off

The district administrations of Rawalpindi and Islamabad had blocked the Faizabad intersection while law enforcement agencies began sealing areas and roads with containers to prevent the TLP protesters from entering the federal capital territory.

Murree Road has also been blocked from Faizabad to Chandni Chowk, and a heavy contingent of the police force has been deployed in the area.
