International Anti-Corruption Day is being observed on Thursday (December 9) to raise awareness about getting rid of corruption.

The observance of this day is aimed at highlighting rights and responsibilities of every individual, which includes states, government officials, civil servants, law enforcement officers, media representatives, the private sector, civil society and so on.

Corruption affects every area in our society and preventing corruption unlocks progress towards sustainable development goals. 

Today marks the second International Anti-Corruption Day since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. People around the globe are still fighting the virus and struggling to cope with its socioeconomic impacts. 

Many continue to worry about what the world will look like once the pandemic subsides.
