US dollar crosses Rs178 mark, touches all-time-high against Pakistani rupee

Karachi: The US dollar has broken its all-time high record against the Pakistani rupee in the interbank market on Friday.

According to the reports, Pakistani rupee continued to fall against the US dollar, weakening to its lowest closing level of over 178 for the first time in the inter-bank market. The burden of foreign debts has been increased by Rs2250 billion Pakistani after increasing rate of US dollar. 

As per the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the PKR closed at 178.04 against the USD after a day-on-day depreciation of 6 paisas or 0.03%. This is the weakest closing for the rupee against the US dollar in the inter-bank market.

In the past 17 days, the value of the greenback has been increased by Rs2.76.

In the open market, the dollar also appreciated by one rupee, after which it is being sold at Rs182.
