PML-N president says gas shortage was the result of the government’s criminal negligence

Lahore: While expressing concern over gas crisis, Opposition Leader in National Assembly (NA) Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday the government had promised to provide gas to domestic consumers at least three times a day, but this did not happen.
Lashing out at the incumbent government, the PML-N president said that the gas shortage was the result of the government’s criminal negligence. He said the children are forced to go to school hungry but the government is not aware of it, adding that our mothers, sisters and daughters are also having difficulty in cooking.
Shehbaz Sharif further maintained that the gas crisis in the country prevails due to the incompetence and corruption of Imran Niazi, adding that there is not even enough gas in the houses for women to cook, while the gas supply to the industry is being cut off.
Shahbaz Sharif said that former members of government team have admitted that Imran Niazi government has bankrupted the economy, adding that gas crisis has been created by corruption and incompetence of PTI government.
“The entire gas infrastructure was installed, enough gas could be brought in to meet the needs of both the people and the industry. The real problem is not the gas crisis, but the corruption and incompetence of the present government which creates the crisis itself,” he mentioned.
He further said that if the government had been able to buy gas on time, there was scope in the system, only timely arrangements were needed which did not happen.
