Shaukat Tarin is expected to become federal minister for finance and revenue once again


Islamabad: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin on Friday took oath as a senator in the Upper House of the Parliament.
According to details, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani administered the oath to newly-elected senator. Shaukat Tarin has been elected senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa seat that was vacated by PTI leader Muhammad Ayub Afridi.
Shaukat Tarin is expected to become federal minister for finance and revenue once again.
Earlier on Monday, Adviser to PM Shaukat Tarin was elected senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhawa.
In polling held at the KP Assembly, Tarin bagged 87 votes to win the position that will make it possible for him to lead the Ministry of Finance and preside over key government and parliamentary meetings.
Last month, the seat was fell vacant after PTI Senator Ayub Afridi resigned from the upper house of parliament on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Shaukat Tarin was appointed as the finance minister on April 17 and his constitutional tenure ended on October 16 after which he was appointed as the finance adviser to the Prime Minister.
