Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday took up a plea seeking investigation against the responsible personnel for Murree tragedy.

According to details, the IHC under chaired by Chief Justice Athar Minallah conducted the hearing on the petition filed against the responsible personnel for Murree tragedy.

The officials of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) appeared before the court on the directives of IHC.

Petitioner's counsel argued that the petition was filed in the public interest. My client went to Murree on January 7. When the tourists were crossing thrrough the toll plaza to enter in the hill station, neither anyone stopped them nor informed them about the possibilty of the dangerous situation.

During the hearing, Chief Justice Athar Minallah reprimanded the NDMA representatives over their failure to timely handle the situation. "NDMA is such a huge institution, has there ever been a meeting held to discuss these disasterous situations", the Chief Justice remarked.

Subsequently, the court has directed Prime Minister Imran Khan to summon a key session next week over Murree mishap and take action against the responsible people.
