FDE changes passing marks criteria for promotion to next class, 40% marks mandatory
Islamabad: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) on Thursday has announced that the students must obtain a minimum of 40% marks and attain a minimum of 75% class attendance to be promoted in the next class.

According to the official notification, this policy applies to nearly 424 schools and colleges in Islamabad.
The notification highlighting the new policy stated that the students from class one to nine, would not be promoted in the next class if they were failed in more than two subjects.
The student must get 40% marks in each subject.
However, those students, who failed in only two subjects will be allowed to sit in the next class in the new academic year but they must have achieved at least 40 percent marks overall.
Moreover, FDE has divided the subjects from class five to class nine into two different categories.
As per category-1 , a student who failed in any subject along-with English, will have to get a minimum of 40% or above marks to promote in the next class.
Category-II also bounded the students to obtain at least 15% marks in that subjects in which failed to promote to the next class.
The notification in this regard has been issued to the heads of the institutions and Area Education Officers (AEO) of the federal capital.
