Athar Mateen—journalist by profession— tried to foil a mugging bid and was shot three times.

Karachi: Another journalist has lost his life during an alleged armed robbery bid in Karachi, police officials said Friday.
As per reports, the armed men were said to be dacoits who have killed senior journalist Athar Mateen on putting up resistance during a dacoit bid.
Police informed that initially they got report that a citizen was shot dead by armed men for resisting mugging bid.
Athar Mateen—journalist by profession— tried to foil a mugging bid and was shot three times.
In the meantime, authorities revealed that gunmen were looting a citizen and Athar—with his car— hit their motorcycle.
Enraged over the un-expected hit, the suspects opened fire on him resulting in his immediate death.
The journalist was immediately shifted to Saifi Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His body was later shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for autopsy.
It is pertinent to mention here that Athar Mateen was younger brother of renowned newscaster and anchorperson Tariq Mateen.
“The dacoits managed to fled the scene,” said police adding that an investigation into the incident is underway.
More information regarding the incident is being gathered, added police.
