Islamabad: The polling is underway for the Senate election on general seat in Sindh Assembly.

The seat fell vacant after the disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Vawda.

In the meantime, PTI and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan have announced to boycott the election for Vawda’s vacant seat

So far, PTI leads the opposition tally in the Sindh Assembly with 30 seats out of the opposition’s 69, while MQM-P possesses 21 seats, Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) have 14, and Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) three.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Peoples Party has 99 seats in the 168-seat provincial assembly.

Moreover, Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit Karachi today (Wednesday) to meet the leaders of the coalition parties, apparently to seek their assurance ahead of voting on the no- confidence motion.

Reports quoting sources said that Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and several federal ministers will also accompany the premier.

Apart from this crucial visit, Imran Khan  will also chair a meeting of the Sindh advisory council of his party.

The premier is also scheduled to address party leaders and workers during the meeting.
