30 years on, memories of that World Cup glory remain as precious as ever.


Lahore: 30 years have passed since Pakistan’s only World Cup victory under the leadership of legendary all-rounder Imran Khan.
March 25, 1992, the remarkable day, when Pakistan thrashed England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) by 22 runs with the help of Imran Khan’s—current Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Today marks the 30-year anniversary of Pakistan’s cricket World Cup triumph which till date remains the only time they lifted the trophy but still remains etched in our memories.
Three decades later, it is perhaps the one factor that unites Pakistanis in a way nothing else does.
In addition, to honour the heroes of the 1992 team, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will release a slideshow featuring pictorial highlights, on the fifth and final day of the ongoing Lahore Test between Pakistan and Australia.
Moreover, the 1992 World Cup trophy will be put at the Gaddafi Stadium following the occasion.
Fans sitting in enclosures will be able to take selfies and photos with the cricket trophy. The World Cup trophy will also go to the dressing rooms of Pakistan and Australia cricket teams.
Pakistan was on the verge of getting eliminated from the tournament at one stage and ended up as world champions after witnessing many ups and downs throughout the event. At one stage rain affected the match which proved to be the most significant for the 1992 champions.
Green shirts were invincible afterwards in all the eliminators as they brushed aside all odds.
