SC adjourns hearing of suo-moto notice case till Thursday

Islamabad: The Supreme Court today adjourned the hearing into the suo-motu case about the dismissal of a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Assembly till tomorrow (Thursday).

A five-member larger bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial heard the case.

Hearing the suo-motu notice of the situation arising after the dismissal of the no-confidence motion by National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri on Wednesday, Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial said that the no-confidence motion is a constitutional process. "The court will announce the verdict according to the law and constitution, not on the basis of loyalties."

The CJP remarked that the case pertains to the violation of Article 95. "The court can intervene where there is a violation of the constitution."

On the other hand, the court adjourned the case till 9:30 am on Thursday.
