Peshawar: Following a tragic incident, a 15-year old student died in police custody at the West Cantonment police station in Peshawar on Sunday night.

According to police, the deceased identified as Shahzaib was a student of grade seven and arrested on Sunday for getting into a fight with a shopkeeper at Liaquat Bazaar and for pointing a gun at him.
“The teenager committed suicide in the lock-up by strangulating himself,” said investigation officer.
Meanwhile, the victim’s father accused the police of torturing his son to death and claimed that the police arrested him for not having his motorcycle papers and now framing his murder as a suicide. The family protested outside the police station and demanded justice from the government.
Hence, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan took notice and ordered a judicial inquiry.
The staff of the police station was suspended after the tragic incident while the cops involved in the incident have been arrested.
Moreover, the CCTV footage of the boy’s suicide is available and will be provided to the judicial commission, says police.
