Five killed in southwest China rockslide
After being informed, the local authorities sent rescuers to the scene to search for the missing.
Chengdu: At least five people were killed in a rockslide in Rongxian County, southwest China's Sichuan Province, local authorities said Tuesday.
The unfortunate incident happened at about 2:30 p.m. Monday in a village in Rongxian, leaving five people missing.
After being informed, the local authorities sent rescuers to the scene to search for the missing.
However, the rescue operation ended shortly after midnight following the recovery of the body of the last missing person.
Moreover, villagers living in the vicinity of the rockslide have been evacuated. An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
