The surge would not be applicable to the K-Electric customers.

Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Tuesday approved an increase of Rs3.99 per unit in the power tariff on account of fuel cost adjustment (FCA) for the month of April 2022.
The NEPRA had already completed the hearing the matter pertaining to the Central Power Purchasing Agency’s (CCPA) request for an Rs4.5 per unit increase in the electricity tariff under the fuel adjustment charges (system designed to adjust monthly electricity fees based on fluctuations in fuel prices).
Power consumers will bear an additional burden of approximately Rs51 billion.
The surge would not be applicable to the K-Electric customers.
The decision comes after the government announcement on May 26 to increase the price of petrol by Rs30 per litre in order to meet the bailout conditions of the International Monetary Funds (IMF), as the country seeks a year extension in the loan programme and wanted to expand it by $2 billion.
In the meantime, electricity shortfall has intensified in Pakistan as power crises reached up to 7000 MW. The power generation in the country stands at 21,200 MW while the demand has been recorded at 28,200 MW.
In country, all the major cities are facing hours-long severe power load-shedding amid hot weather.
