The former minister says he has resigned because of his health issues


Lahore: Senior Pakistan Tahreef-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister Shafqat Mehmood on Friday resigned from the position of the PTI central Punjab president.
Taking to Twitter, he expressed his privilege and honor to serve the party as regional president and showed gratitude towards party chairman Imran Khan for showing confidence on him and assigning him the position.
"It was an honour and privilege to serve as President PTI Punjab and I thank Chairman Imran Khan for the opportunity. It is time for change due to my surgery and convalescence. I congratulate the new President and will serve the party in whatever capacity assigned," Mahmood said in the tweet.

The former MNA gave medical grounds a reason to be stepped down and conveyed wishes to the upcoming president which is yet to be announced by the party.
