PMD advises public to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight.

Islamabad: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Saturday warned that another heat wave is likely to grip most parts of the country, while the heatwave conditions are likely to prevail throughout the week
As per the Met department's weather alert, the mercury is expected to remain significantly high during the daytime in most of the country from today (Sunday) to Thursday, June 9.
Day temperatures in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Sindh, and Eastern Balochistan are expected to rise significantly above normal.
Occasional dust storms or dust-raising winds may also occur in the afternoon or evening during the period.
The heat wave is likely to be followed by a rain spell in the upper and central parts of the country.
About the possible impacts of the heat wave, the met office said dry periods and heat wave conditions in the country may cause water stress to the standing crops, vegetables, and orchards.
The Met office advised the public to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight and adopt precautions to avoid heatstroke.
All concerned authorities have been particularly advised to remain alert during the forecast period.
Tips to avoid Heatwave:
- Stay in an air-conditioned indoor location as much as you can.
- Drink plenty of fluids even if you don’t feel thirsty.
