Punjab by-elections: PTI challenges voters lists in LHC
The petitioner, Dr Yasmin Rashid, contends that rigging is being committed in Lahore by altering the voter lists in the constituencies
Lahore: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Wednesday challenged the by-elections voters lists in the Lahore High Court (LHC).
According to media reports, the Election Commission, Provincial Election Commission and DRO have been made parties in the petition filed in the Lahore High Court by PTI leader Yasmeen Rashid.
The petition contends that fraud is taking place in Lahore by altering the voter lists in the constituencies.
Voters from other constituencies in the by-election constituencies have been included in the lists.
According to the petition, the Election Commission should apply for transfer of votes to other constituencies. No hearing has been held. The court has been requested to stop the reckless use of government machinery in by-elections.
The PTI leader has requested that the voter lists be declared null and void as they are in conflict with the Election Act and Rules.
Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court Office has objected to not attaching certified copies of the petition on the request of Dr. Rashid.
