Khurram Dastgir announces to give huge relief in electricity bills in October
"The problems faced by PESCO will be worked on and solved very soon"


Peshawar: Federal Minister for Power Khurram Dastgir Thursday announced a huge relief in electricity bills and fuel prices in October.
While addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) headquarters, he said that he was there on the direction of the prime minister to get an estimation of the losses.
He said the people don't need to go to the offices to rectify their bills as they will receive new bills soon.
He said that the pillars of PESCO’s transmission lines have fallen and nine grid stations of PESCO were mainly affected by the flood, six of which have already been reinstated.
PESCO is facing major electricity issues in Swat, whereas the tribal areas electricity supplier, TESCO has the major problems in Bajaur. TESCO and PESCO have been instructed to resolve problems as soon as possible, said the minister.
Dastgir told the press that PESCO faced a loss of Rs368 million while TESCO faced a loss of Rs60 million. Also said that the prime minister has instructed to use all possible resources for the restoration of electricity.
A plan is being made for the losses in Punjab and Balochistan. The problems faced by PESCO will be worked on and solved very soon, said the federal power minister.
Criticizing the KP government, he said everyone saw what they did in the matter of IMF.
While announcing a relaxation for the public, he said that the government bought petrol and diesel at the right time to prevent the crisis and the public will be relieved by the petrol prices very soon. Also, people will be given a huge relief in the electricity bills and they will not have to get the bills corrected but they will be given new ones.
