PM in Quetta to review relief work in flood-affected areas
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Quetta Sunday on a day-long visit to Balochistan.
Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Quetta Sunday on a day-long visit to Balochistan, to review work on the rehabilitation of flood-affected road and railway infrastructure.
Chairman National Highway Authority Khurram Agha gave a detailed briefing to him during an aerial view of the damaged railway bridge in Bibi Nani and the restoration work on Pinjra bridge which was completely swept away by the floods.
Earlier, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, Chief Secretary Balochistan and other high ranking officers received the Prime Minister at Quetta Airport.
On the special direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the work of restoring highways and connecting roads in flood-affected areas is underway on an emergency basis.
According to Prime Minister Office, the Shehbaz Sharif himself is monitoring maintenance process and a daily report is also being submitted to him.
During the last fifteen days, flood-affected highways have been restored in all four provinces and Gilgit-Baltistan.
National Highway N-15 has been reopened for traffic from Mansehra to Chilas via Naran.
Similarly, Karachi to Chaman national highway N-25 which was affected by flood from Hub to Khuzdar has also been opened. Karakoram Highway N-35 has also been made fully operational.
