Pakistan reports over 4,700 cases in single day as COVID-19 third wave intensifies
Islamabad: Pakistan on Wednesday reported 4,757 new Covid-19 cases and 78 deaths, with authorities linking the uptick in numbers to the third wave of the deadly outbreak across the country.

According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 4,757 cases of coronavirus were reported while 78 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 14,434.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 667,957.
As many as 603,126 patients have recovered from the disease with 3,197 critical cases.
Punjab
The number of patients swelled to 220,392 in the province with 6,365 causalities.
Sindh
The number of infections has surged to 265,433 in the province, while the death toll has reached 4,497.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The confirmed cases have surged to 87,055 in the province with 2,342 casualties.
Balochistan
There are 19,557 confirmed cases while 207 patients have died from the infection so far.
AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
There are 12,663 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 352. On the other hand, there are 5,024 cases in GB with 103 coronavirus deaths.
Islamabad
There are 57,833 cases in the capital city while 568 people have lost their lives.
