Prohibited funding case: FIA gets two-day physical remand of PTI Senator Azam Swati

FIA’s Corporate Banking Circle lodged a case against 11 party office-bearers including PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the foreign funding case

Prohibited funding case: FIA gets two-day physical remand of PTI Senator Azam Swati

Islamabad: The district and sessions court of Islamabad on Thursday granted the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) two-day physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Senator Azam Khan Swati in the prohibited funding case.

According to details, the FIA produced Azam Swati before the district and sessions court and sought seven-day physical remand of the former minister.

However, Senior Civil Judge Shabbir Bhatti approved physical remand for two days and directed the FIA to produce the accused on the next hearing after his complete medical check-up.

Earlier today, the Swati family also confirmed the arrest and stated that Swati was taken into custody by the FIA personnel from Chak Shahzad during a late-night raid.

Azam Swati was arrested in connection with a money laundering and foreign funding case. 

Confirming the development, Babar Awan said that the government had arrested Azam Swati in the dark of the night.

FIA’s Corporate Banking Circle on Tuesday lodged a case against 11 party office-bearers including PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the foreign funding case.

Later, the Islamabad High Court approved on Wednesday the protective bail application filed by Imran Khan in the prohibited funding case.
