Larkana: Police on Wednesday closed all cases registered against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Azam Swati in Larkana.
As per details, all cases against Azam Swati in Qambar Shahdadkot and Kashmore have also been closed.
Azam Swati’s son, Usman Swati filed a petition on behalf of his father in the Sindh High Court Sukkur Bench to quash all cases against his father which were registered in Sindh.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sindh High Court and Hyderabad High Court Bench have barred the authorities from registration of more cases against the 74-year-old senator.
Azam Swati was arrested by FIA on the issue of controversial tweets, he was first transferred to Quetta, after which Sindh Police arrested him and transferred him to Sukkur.
On December 9, the Balochistan High Court (BHC) ordered that all first information reports (FIR) registered against Azam Swati be quashed.
According to details, at least five FIRs were registered in Balochistan against Azam Swati for using foul language against senior military officers in his controversial tweets.
Reportedly, all of the FIRs were lodged over his controversial speech and tweets.
A Quetta’s district court remanded the senator in police custody for five days on Sunday, a week after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested him in Islamabad.
Subsequently, he was arrested from the federal capital after cases were registered against him in Balochistan and since then, Swati has been in the physical custody of Balochistan police.
