Karachi: The Sindh Election Commissioner Ejaz Anwar Chauhan Monday stated that results of local government elections in Karachi held yesterday are getting compiled and will be finalized soon, GNN reported.
Talking to media, the commissioner stated that the elections in seven districts of Karachi and nine districts of Hyderabad were conducted successfully.
Ejaz Anwar said that estimated 170 returning officers (RO) were appointed for the elections adding that there were 246 Union Councils (UC) and 1,230 local government constituencies in Karachi.
Each RO was responsible for managing around 25 UCs, and each UC had a separate Form 11 and 12.
He praised the staff on duty of Election Commission for smooth conduct of the process.
The polling process continued from 8 in the morning till 5 in the evening, whereas voters who were present inside the polling station were allowed to cast the vote.
The polling continued till 7pm in some areas where the process was delayed in the morning, Chauhan informed.
He added that the results are being prepared and will be delivered soon, people of Karachi are being advised to stay patient and let the commission perform to ensure the fair and transparent process.
