The electoral watchdog decides to notify Imran Khan as winner from 7 NA seats after expense details submitted

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Thursday declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan a winning candidate from all seven National Assembly (NA) seats.
While announcing the verdict, the election commission revealed that the former Prime Minister had submitted all details of expenditures incurred during his election campaigns for by-polls held in October
A five-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja announced the decision today, stating that PTI chief has submitted the required details to the electoral body, following which it decided to notify him as the winning candidate on all the seven NA seats.
The verdict was reserved on December 20, 2022.
By-elections were held in three provinces including Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Sindh. All the candidates competed for 8 National Assembly seats with three in Punjab, three in KP and two in Sindh.
The cricketer-turned politician contested by-elections on six seats — NA-22, NA-24, NA-31, NA-108, NA-118, and NA-239 — on October 16, while the poll on NA-45 was held on October 30.
Khan emerged victorious on seven seats, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had managed to bag two constituencies.
The constituencies of the National Assembly were in Mardan, Charsadda, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Nankana Sahib, Malir, Korangi, and Multan, while the Punjab Assembly's constituencies included Sheikhupura, Khanewal, and Bahawalnagar.
Earlier, the electoral watchdog did not notify Imran Khan’s victory on six out of seven seats and served him a notice for his alleged failure to submit details of the party’s funding, as the former cricketer only provided details of his Charsadda election campaign.
