PM forms high-level committee to investigate countrywide power breakdown
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed serious concerns over the power-breakdown and sought report from the minister concerned as to why such big breakdown of the electricity took place in the country.
Islamabad: Though eletricity started to gradually resume, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif constituted a high-level committee for investigation into the worst power breakdown and sought report from Minister for Energy Khurram Dastgir on Monday.
Expressing his annoyance, The PM said it should be apprised as to why such a big breakdown of electricity took place in the country.
The Prime Minister directed to immediately restore the power supply.
Earlier, in a televised message, Minister for Energy Khurram Dastgir Khan said that the power supply would be restored in the entire country by tonight.
The minister said all technical teams of the Power Division had been mobilized to restore the power supply. He said the power transmission system was intact and they were trying to restart power generation plants.
The Minister was of the view that power supply in parts of Balochistan and Punjab had been restored, while partial restoration of power supply to K-Electric has also begun.
He said on the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a three-member inquiry team has been constituted to investigate the causes behind the breakdown.
