Islamabad: The federal cabinet has approved Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) probes against two former Chairmen and other officers of National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The decision comes in the light of the Broadsheet inquiry. The chairmen and officers had served between 2011 and 2017, a period the federal government had termed the darkest days in NAB's history.
Sources have confirmed that the officers had misled courts, leading to closure of Swiss cases. There has also been an allegation that NAB had the real and pertinent records. Earlier the government had decided to conduct investigation against five people after the Broadsheet inquiry unveiled multiple facts. Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, had said in March that the Swiss cases against former President Asif Ali Zardari, might be reopened for investigation once again.
Broadsheet and NAB had entered into a joint agreement in June 2000, which ended in a settlement on May 20, 2008. Broadsheet was paid $1.5 million. A London court also gave it's verdict in favour of Broadsheet, demanding that Pakistan authorities pay the money to the company.
Prime Minister's Special Advisor, Shehzad Akbar, said in a press conference earlier in the year that NAB and Broadsheet ended their argument in 2003.
