Lahore: Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister,  on Friday stressed the importance of a strong military for a powerful Pakistan while speaking to senior journalists in Lahore.

Khan expressed that the top priority should be to strengthen the country's national institutions. He assured that his party is open to negotiations, but any action taken would be within the boundaries of the law and constitution.

Khan also emphasized that the independence of the judiciary and constitution cannot be compromised and free and fair elections are the ultimate solution to all issues. PTI pledged to go to any extent to uphold democracy, and the entire nation would support the movement.

Khan expressed concern about the abduction of thousands of PTI colleagues from their homes, stating that his party workers were being picked up from their residences. He said that there is no information about their whereabouts. He also declared that he would spend his life in Pakistan after a murder attempt.

The Secretary General of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist (PFUJ) Rana Azeem said that journalists would fight for the supremacy of the law and constitution.

Earlier today, the Supreme Court (SC) bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial refused the government's request to form a full court bench to hear the election delay case. The PTI had moved the apex court against the decision of the election commission to change the date of elections in Punjab and KP.
