Another PTI leader Usman Khan Tarakai quits party over May 9 incidents
The former MNA while addressing a press conference says he is resigning from PTI due to the violence that ensued, including attacks on military installations after the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan.
Peshawar: Another ex-member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has announced his departure from the party in light of the violent incidents on May 9.
Usman Khan Tarakai, addressing a press conference, stated that he was resigning from PTI due to the violence that ensued, including attacks on military installations after the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan.
Taraki, hailing from the village of Colonel Sher Khan Shaheed, expressed his strong disapproval of the desecration of the late colonel's statue. He emphasized that while he had supported Imran Khan until now, the attacks on military installations contradicted his political beliefs.
He mentioned that he would consult with his advisors before announcing his future course of action.
It is worth noting that several PTI lawmakers and members have severed ties with the party following the May 9 violence, which involved attacks on military installations such as the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and the Corps Commander House in Lahore, following Imran Khan's arrest.
After the arrest of former prime minister and PTI chief Imran Khan from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday, violent clashes erupted throughout Pakistan.
Protests took place in both remote and major cities, with party workers expressing their agitation over their leader's arrest. Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad called upon the armed forces to maintain law and order.
