Mumbai: Bollywood actress Sanya Malhotra has recently shared her personal experiences of facing multiple incidents of harassment in public spaces, expressing her disappointment over the lack of assistance from bystanders.
The actress, known for her role in the film HIT, recollected a distressing incident that occurred while she was traveling on the Delhi metro, returning home from college.
She revealed, “I was alone, so I chose to remain silent. It was a situation where I felt helpless. They began making lewd comments and unwanted physical contact,”.
Sanya expressed her astonishment at the fact that no one on the metro came forward to help her. Reflecting on that terrifying memory, she continued, "When I reached Rajiv Chowk station, they started following me. They were a group of tall, muscular men."
"Fortunately, the crowded station provided some relief. I quickly rushed to the washroom and called my father, requesting him to come and pick me up," she added.
The actress went on to recall another incident that took place in Mumbai, after she had gained fame in the industry. She shared an incident where a fan approached her for a selfie but inappropriately touched her. "I was taken aback and thought, 'What on earth?' However, even the presence of photographers didn't offer any assistance. Filled with anger, I called the fan back and confronted him, stating, 'You crossed a line.'"
In her most recent appearance, Sanya portrayed the role of a police officer in the Netflix film "Kathal," where she was assigned the task of investigating the disappearance of two jackfruits from a politician's garden.
