Inviting Malik Amin Aslam to address the conference on behalf of US President Joe Biden, Kerry said that the purpose of the meeting was to find ways to strengthen joint global efforts against the climate crisis.

The letter stated that on the sidelines of the summit, the United States will present a committed target for 2030 under the Paris Agreement and the heads of countries most affected by climate change have also been invited.

Last month, US President Joe Biden announced a global conference on climate change, inviting 40 heads of state from around the world. And Pakistan was not among the countries invited by the US President.

The Virtual Summit will be held on April 22 and 23 and will be hosted by the United States.

President Joe Biden will host a closely watched global leaders climate summit on April 22, during which the US is expected to unveil an updated carbon emission reduction target and urged cooperation with other nations to combat the climate crisis.

The president has invited 40 world leaders to the virtual summit and is hoping to reach deals with some of the world’s largest greenhouse gas emitters.

The heads of state invited by the United States include China, Russia, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kenya, Nigeria and Bhutan, among others.

Biden is expected to unveil the new target before or during the summit and pledge money to help less-wealthy countries combat climate change.
