Islamabad: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has reported that Tropical Cyclone Biparjoy in the Arabian Sea has intensified further, becoming a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS) in the last 12 hours.

The latest update indicates that the storm has tracked north and northwestward, currently positioned at a distance of approximately 1200 kilometers south of Karachi, with coordinates near Latitude 14.0°N and Longitude 66.2°E.

According to the PMD, the cyclone's maximum sustained surface winds range from 120-140 km per hour, with gusts of 160 km per hour near the center of the system.

Favorable environmental conditions, including warm sea surface temperatures of 30-32°C, low vertical wind shear, and upper-level divergence, are expected to further intensify the cyclone as it continues moving northwest.

The sea condition around the cyclone is described as "very rough," with high and phenomenal waves reaching heights of 25 to 28 feet.

However, the PMD assures that none of the coastal areas in Pakistan are under any threat from the cyclone.

Cyclone warning center in Karachi is closely monitoring the system and will continue to issue updates accordingly.
