California: Every year Apple upgrades the iPhone operating system which adds many new features.

iOS 17 will be introduced to iPhone users this year, which was first previewed at the company's annual developer conference last week.

The company said: “New operating system for iPhones will be available to users in September, but not all iPhones will be able to update to iOS 17”.

Apple's new operating system will only be available for iPhone XS or later models and will not be able to be updated to 2017 or earlier phones.

This means that if you are using iPhone 8 and iPhone X (or 10), Apple's software updates will no longer be available to you.

This is not an unexpected decision as Apple ends software support for older devices every year.

But it should be noted that even after you lose access to the new iOS system, your old iPhone will continue to run on iOS 16 or earlier operating systems, just without the new features.

Losing access to new iOS updates increases the risk of hacking and malware because software updates also prevent bugs.

iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12, 13 and 14 series phones will be able to use this new operating system.
